Clary has just received an alarming call from her mother and she is sounding hysterical, but when she arrives at their New York apartment her mom is missing and she comes in contact, with a scorpion like beast who is trying to kill her. This is the beginning of the story of Clary Fray who has found out about the world of shadow-hunters, which according to Jace mundanes aren’t able to see the world of demons, werewolves and other creatures. Right now, her mother is missing, the family friend Luke is running and according to her mother her dad is dead. So, how is she supposed to get the answers about the recent events and her lineage. Will Clary find her mother or Luke to get the answers that she is looking for in the book “City of Bones”?

Recommendation:

Now, this is a story. Demons, warlocks, shadow-hunters, double crossed love and secrets all in this book “City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. Love this book from beginning to end, so now I will go watch the movie and see if I will get the same results. So, my YA readers from 14 and up this book is for you if you want fantasy.

The battle between good and evil, the fallen angels and the heart of the one mortal; Luce that they are fighting over is on in this special thick book of 452 pages. A good read for that 15 and up crowd of fantasy lovers.

The Elite is for all those young ladies who dream to be a princess, and wants to be part of the selection. This book will draw you into that special world of fancy dresses and princess duties. Recommended for the 13yr. old and up reader. The Elite is #2 book in the Selection Novel series.

Jacob eventually learns the truth about the orphanage and its children and how they are extraordinary peculiar, but being peculiar comes at a price and they must be careful and fearful for their life. So, what did this home for peculiar children have to do with grandpa? See how the secret of grandpa and Jacob’s life unravel in “Miss Peregrine’s home for Peculiar Children”.

Recommendation:

This Book was definitely a fantasy mystery, it pulled me in from the beginning to the end. The pictures were fascinating and the story was just consuming with detail. This is YA fiction but I also recommend for tweens to read as well.

Tally lives in a world that is divided into physical appearances: ugly, old ugly, new pretty, middle pretty, old pretty, crumbly and out casters. Tally is reaching age sixteen; the year that you go from being ugly to pretty. Tally meets shay an ugly friend that comforts her during their wait, but shay is having mixed feelings about being ugly and turning pretty. So, one week before the operation shay decides to run away to be with fellow ugly rebels in a hidden community outside the divided communities. Shay once Tally to come follow and live in the wilderness, but Tally is doubtful and shay leaves handing Tally an encrypted map to eventually follow. Tally’s day of operation pretty is here but it is hijacked by special circumstances, and investigation department for trouble makers. Tally is offered a deal to turn on her friend and the outsiders and become pretty and live in New Pretty town or refuse and stay ugly. So, whose side does Tally choose in the novel “Uglies”?

Recommendation:

This novel is psychologically long, but it is very intriguing as it looks into the world of physical appearances. The novel is definitely for high school readers, due to touchy issues.

Ethan Wate has been having visions of a girl, who he has never seen before especially in Gaitlin and its driving him crazy. But one day a new girl arrives in the town and its buzzing with secrecy. She is a descendant of the Duchannes and the Ravenwoods, who are considered haunting in Gatlin. Ethan is attracted to her and needs to be near her, one day Ethan and Lena finds a locket, which has ties to both the Wates and Duchannes and they both touch the locket not knowing Lena’s powers are live. Enthralling them into the world of GDK and ECW. The locket and magic is brewing up a storm for Lena and Ethan, will the love that Ethan and Lena share shield them from the magic from the “Beautiful Creatures”?.

Recommendation:

An intriguing love story between a mortal and spell caster. I liked how the book brought the story a live through the locket of the couple’s descendants. It’s a huge book with 563 pages of spell power that I believe the 11yr. old and up can tackle. So, have fun.

THE MAZE RUNNER

Thomas had a consuming urge to become a maze runner that’s all he knew, he wanted to be one of those guys that went out into the world of stone walls. Thomas has just arrived a day ago in the Glades, and he already wanted to escape and somehow he knew the maze was the way. Thomas had no memories he only knew his name and it wasn’t enough for the other Gladers because strange things were happening since Thomas had arrived, and they were blaming him. Then the arrival of Teresa the girll and the truth happened and Thomas is the cause. Will Thomas convince the other Gladers that he can be trusted and fix the situation, and will he convince them to escape the Glade and follow him “The Maze Runner”.

Recommendation:

The movie is great but the book is even better, the details that bring the story alive in your brain makes it better than watching the movie, because acting can’t replace details. The book is a must read for YA readers and adults.
